Girish belongs to this rich Tradition of Hindustani Classical Music which was pioneered by the late Ustad Abdul Karim Khan and later on nurtured and flourised by great artist like Ustad Abdul Waheed khan, Pandit Sawai Gandharva, Pandit Sureshbabu Mane, Smt. Hirabai Badodekar, Ustad Amir Khan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Smt. Gangubai hangal, Pandit Firoz Dastur, Smt. Manik Verma, smt. Prabha Atre, Ustad Niaz and Faiiz Ahmed etc. to name a few.

Girish is a disciple of Pandit Firoz dastur, who in turn is the disciple of late Pandit Sawai Gandharva. Thus, he has been the fourth generation singer of this Gharana, Which is very famous for it’s melodious and soulful singing. All singers of this Gharana are endowed with melodious and sweet voice. Besides regular performances on the All India Radio and Television, he has performed at the major metropolis like Mumbai, Pune, Calcutta, bhopal, Belgaum, etc. he toured U.S.A. and many countries of Europe like England, Germany, France, belgium, Austria, luxemberg and Switzerland.
